Google expands Gemini with Windows desktop app and Dropbox integration
Google has launched a dedicated Gemini desktop application for Windows, allowing users to access the AI chatbot directly without a web browser. The app features an Alt + Space shortcut for instant assistance and is designed to be lightweight to minimize system resource consumption. It provides an integrated workspace for complex tasks, including information gathering and media creation, while maintaining the core features of the web version.
Additionally, Dropbox has become an official connected app within the Google Gemini ecosystem. Through the Gemini Spark workflow environment, eligible users can locate, summarize, share, and manage Dropbox files directly within the Gemini chat interface. This integration aims to reduce context switching by allowing AI-driven file retrieval and automation. The rollout is currently a US-first release for users aged 18 or older using personal Google accounts in English.
