Google expands presence in Pakistan with new offices and tech deal

Google has expanded its presence in Pakistan through a new cooperation agreement and the inauguration of a local office. During a reception hosted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, Google and Pakistan signed a deal to enhance collaboration in technology, artificial intelligence, digital skills, and IT exports. The partnership aims to support Pakistan’s digital economy by providing training for students, professionals, and developers to meet global job demands.

In conjunction with this expansion, Google officially inaugurated its local office in Islamabad and announced plans to open a new office in Karachi. The Karachi location will initially focus on business operations, while certain operational matters, such as ad exchange concerns, will continue to be managed from Singapore for the time being.

Google also launched ‘Digital Pasban’, an initiative designed to promote internet safety for Pakistani families. The program aims to reach 200,000 households by providing localized Urdu toolkits and training. The initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and several other local organizations.
