Google rolls out Health Guardian features for Pixel Watch
Google has begun rolling out its Health Guardian suite to Pixel Watch 3, 4, and 5 users. The update introduces three primary health-tracking features: blood pressure trends, insulin resistance trends, and sleep breathing quality metrics.
These tools are designed to identify long-term physiological patterns rather than providing immediate clinical diagnoses. The blood pressure feature uses pulse and motion data to estimate trends without a traditional cuff, while the insulin resistance feature analyzes multi-week physiological signals to track metabolic health without blood samples. The sleep breathing feature provides daily assessments of optimal breathing during sleep.
These features are available for free on the Pixel Watch 3, 4, and 5, with monthly trend reports expected to arrive in the Google Health app starting in early October. Users of the Fitbit Air will eventually gain access to these tools through a Google Health Premium subscription. Additionally, Pixel Watch 4 and 5 users in select European regions can access a breathing emergency detection feature that can prompt calls to emergency services if severe oxygen drops are detected.
