Google extends free Satellite SOS access for Pixel 9 users

Google has announced a one-year extension for the free Satellite SOS feature on Pixel 9 devices. While the service was originally slated to be free for only the first two years following device activation, a company spokesperson confirmed that it will remain available at no additional cost for another twelve months.

Satellite SOS allows users to contact emergency responders and share their location via satellite connection when cellular networks or Wi-Fi are unavailable. This feature is specifically designed for emergency situations in isolated areas, such as mountains or remote regions.

Google utilizes satellite technology from Skylo for its Pixel devices. Although the company has extended the free period for Pixel 9 owners, it has not yet provided details regarding the cost or availability of the service once this new extension expires.
