Google faces AI content safety concerns and EU data‑security warnings

Google's artificial‑intelligence system generated news summaries that included detailed suicide methods, prompting criticism from mental‑health experts and calls for stronger safeguards. The company said it is reviewing the incident and will tighten filters for sensitive content while improving transparency around its summarisation processes.

Separately, senior Google security officials warned that proposals under the European Union's Digital Markets Act could expose users' search queries to hacking and increase fraud. They argued that the required sharing of anonymised search data and greater Android openness might make the data a target for malicious actors, potentially leading to a rise in cybercrime across Europe. Google has voiced opposition to parts of the plan they consider unworkable.
