Google Gemini adds voice control for image and sound on select TCL smart TVs

Google has rolled out a new Gemini‑powered voice assistant feature on certain TCL Android TV models sold in the United States. The update lets users adjust picture settings such as brightness, contrast, and mode, as well as sound settings including volume and equalisation, using natural‑language commands without navigating menus. The functionality is currently limited to seven TCL models (QM9K, QM7L, RM7L, X11L, QM9L, QM8L, RM9L) and requires a system update, with the feature initially exclusive to the U.S. market.

Gemini also provides contextual assistance on Google TV, such as displaying live sports scores and visual summaries, and can suggest appropriate picture or audio presets like "cinema" or "sport". While the rollout is narrow and the feature may not work on other TV brands yet, Google plans to expand Gemini’s capabilities on Google TV over time, potentially reducing the reliance on traditional remote controls.
