Google Gemini AI adds voice search and draft assistance to Gmail

Google’s Gemini AI is being integrated into Gmail with two new capabilities. The first, Gemini in Gmail, provides AI‑generated summaries of long email threads, suggested reply drafts, new‑mail composition assistance, and calendar‑add prompts. Access requires a Google Workspace plan that includes the feature or an individual Google AI Pro/Ultra subscription; it is not available on free personal accounts.

The second, Gemini Live, enables users to interact with Gmail by voice. Available on Android and iPhone devices for a limited set of users, the tool lets users ask natural‑language queries such as “find my flight reservation” and returns the relevant messages via spoken or text responses. Like Gemini in Gmail, Gemini Live is limited to accounts with a paid AI subscription and is being rolled out gradually.

Both features aim to streamline email handling, but they remain restricted to paid plans and are not yet universally accessible.
