Google tackles Gemini volume glitch as NotebookLM reviewed

Google’s Gemini voice assistant has been reported to cause sudden, painful volume spikes in users’ headphones when the wake‑word is activated, prompting concerns about hearing safety. The company acknowledged the issue and said engineers are working on a software fix that should be released in an upcoming update.

Separately, Google’s NotebookLM, a multimodal AI platform built on Gemini, was evaluated by a tech outlet. The tool lets users upload PDFs, web links, YouTube videos and other media to generate text summaries, audio overviews and study materials. The review highlighted an intuitive upload process and useful features such as audio‑generated summaries, but noted variable processing speeds and some technical limitations, positioning the service as beneficial for knowledge‑workers and students who need quick document insights.
