Google Gemini expands Neural Expressive design to Wear OS smartwatches

Google is expanding the visual interface of its Gemini AI assistant to more Wear OS smartwatches. The update introduces a new design language called ‘Neural Expressive,’ which features an animated gradient effect that appears over the watch face when the assistant is activated.

While the rollout initially targeted Google’s own Pixel Watch devices, the new aesthetic is now appearing on third-party hardware, including Samsung Galaxy Watch models. The update, identified in version 1.36 of the Google Gemini app, provides a more consistent visual experience between Android smartphones and wearable devices.

Despite the visual overhaul, core functional capabilities remain largely unchanged for now. Advanced features such as ‘Gemini Intelligence,’ which aims to allow the assistant to automate complex digital tasks, have not yet been implemented on these devices.
