Google Gemini voice call bug disrupts Android Auto worldwide

The Google Gemini AI assistant is currently refusing to place telephone calls via voice commands on both smartphones and Android Auto systems. Users report that attempting to call a contact results in an immediate error message stating "Etwas ist schiefgelaufen" ("something went wrong"), and the call never connects. The issue has been observed globally since early June and appears tied to a recent update of the Google app, with no known fix from Google at this time.

Workarounds identified by users include switching back to the classic Google Assistant in the Android digital‑assistant settings, uninstalling the latest Google app update, or, less reliably, clearing the app cache. Google has not released an official statement, and developers suspect a server‑side problem originating from Google’s Mountain View headquarters.
