Google Health enables two-way sync with Apple Health on iPhone

Google released version 5.05 of its Google Health app for iOS, adding two‑way synchronization with Apple Health. The update lets iPhone users automatically write data such as workouts, steps, vitals, sleep and other Fitbit‑derived metrics into the Apple Health app, eliminating the need for third‑party bridging tools. Heart‑rate variability (HRV) is not transferred because the two platforms calculate it differently.

In the United States the same rollout also introduces Smart Health Links, a secure feature that generates shareable URLs or QR codes for patients to provide summaries of their medical records to doctors or family members. The update includes bug fixes for VO₂ max calculations, exercise‑map rendering and post‑workout editing. The changes are part of Google’s broader effort to integrate its health and fitness services across Android, Pixel devices and now Apple’s ecosystem.
