Google launches Gemini study tools and free AI subscriptions for students

Google has launched a suite of AI-powered educational tools within its Gemini assistant to support students during the back-to-school season. The new features include a dedicated student hub, study notebooks for organizing research, flashcard creation, and practice quizzes. The platform also integrates with Google Calendar to track academic deadlines and utilizes Google Lens to help students understand complex concepts through photography.

To promote these services, Google is offering subscription incentives to eligible university students. In the United States, students aged 18 to 24 can receive one year of Google AI Pro at no cost, which includes higher usage limits, access to Gemini Spark, integration with Workspace apps, and 5 TB of cloud storage.

Students in over 140 other markets, including Poland, are eligible for a free year of Google AI Plus. This international tier provides access to Gemini Omni, twice the standard usage limits, and 400 GB of cloud storage. Eligibility for these offers requires verification through SheerID and is available until December 31, 2026.
