Google hosts Gemini for Education Ideaathon Showcase in Tokyo

Google for Education will hold the Gemini for Education Ideaathon 2026 Showcase on 7 August 2026 at its Shibuya office in Tokyo, with a hybrid format that also streams via Google Meet. The event gathers the nine winners from regional contests held in Fukuoka, Osaka and Hokkaido to present projects that use Google’s generative‑AI tools Gemini and Gemini Notebook to tackle school‑level challenges such as reducing administrative workload, supporting student‑led learning and creating high‑quality teaching materials.

The showcase is open to teachers, education‑board staff and university students across Japan; corporate representatives are barred. Attendance in person is limited to 50 participants on a first‑come‑first‑served basis, while online viewing is unlimited and free after pre‑registration. Presentations will run from 13:00 to 16:30, followed by cross‑talk sessions on personalising learning and redesigning schools.

The event highlights Google’s push to integrate AI into Japanese education and offers a platform for educators to share practical, AI‑driven solutions.
