Google Images rolls out AI‑powered personalized feed on 25th anniversary
To celebrate its 25th birthday, Google Images is undergoing the biggest redesign in its history. The classic blank search page will be replaced by a dynamic, real‑time gallery that shows images tailored to each user’s interests before any query is entered. Google describes the new “browseable home” as a “dynamic, immersive gallery of images from across the web — updated in real time and intelligently tailored to your unique interests.”
The interface includes a “For You” feed reminiscent of Pinterest or Instagram, with the ability to save pictures into “Collections” that appear as tabs above the main gallery. The redesign will initially roll out over the coming weeks to desktop users in the United States, in English, and only for signed‑in accounts.
At the same time, Google is adding AI‑generated image creation to Search. When a query returns no suitable image, users can type a text prompt in the AI Overviews section and the company’s Nano Banana 2 Lite model will generate a custom image on the fly. This feature will also launch in the same phased rollout.
Google says the changes aim to keep users longer within its ecosystem, boost engagement, and open new advertising opportunities while offering a more visual discovery experience.
