Google updates Android ecosystem with Gemini AI and new digital tools
Google is rolling out several updates to its Android ecosystem, integrating AI and enhancing digital management tools.
A new feature called ‘Memorized Items’ has been integrated into the Find Hub application via Gemini. This allows users to use voice commands to record the location of physical objects, such as passports or spare keys, which are then stored in a dedicated Find Hub file. Users can also attach photos or specific addresses to these entries for better visual reference.
Google Wallet is also undergoing significant changes, including a massive redesign aimed at creating a more visual and intuitive interface. The update focuses on making loyalty cards and digital passes easier to identify and access quickly. Additionally, users can optimize the app by enabling location permissions to allow the Wallet to suggest relevant cards automatically based on their current position.
Furthermore, Android 17 is introducing a cross-device ‘Activity Hub’. This feature, designed to compete with Apple’s Handoff, allows users to seamlessly continue tasks between devices, such as moving a process started on a smartphone to a connected tablet. The hub manages tasks, apps, notifications, and file sharing across the ecosystem.
