Google integrates Maps into Gemini mobile app

Google has integrated Google Maps directly into its Gemini mobile application for both Android and iOS users. This update allows the AI assistant to utilize real-time geographic context to provide more precise, location-based responses.

Users can access an interactive map via a new tool in the application's bottom carousel. The feature enables users to zoom, pan, and select specific areas using an ‘Explore this area’ option. Once a geographic area is selected, it is attached to the chat context, allowing users to ask specific questions such as finding nearby restaurants, landmarks, or services within that precise perimeter.

While this integration enhances the utility of Gemini as a location-aware interface, the feature is currently limited to mobile devices and is not yet available for the desktop version of the service.
