Google introduces blue gradient ring to indicate paid subscriptions
Google is rolling out a new visual indicator for paid subscribers across its first-party Android applications and web platforms. The company is replacing the traditional four-color avatar ring—consisting of red, blue, green, and yellow—with a blue gradient ring to signify active paid tiers, including Google One and various AI subscription levels such as AI Plus, AI Pro, and AI Ultra.
Alongside the avatar change, Google is updating the account menu design. Tapping the avatar now reveals a more compact fullscreen menu where the user's profile picture, name, and email address are housed within a dedicated card. This card also displays the user's current subscription tier and provides prominent links to manage the account or upgrade to higher tiers like Google AI Ultra.
The rollout is occurring on a per-device basis for Android users and is also appearing on the web, such as the Google homepage. While the update is appearing for an increasing number of users, not all applications have yet been updated to support the new visual treatment.
