Google introduces Find Hub and AI-powered tracking for Android

Google is enhancing its Android ecosystem with Find Hub, a service designed to help users locate lost devices and personal items. The feature allows users to track missing Android phones, tablets, and accessories via a web browser on a computer or another smartphone.

To ensure a device can be found, users must keep their software updated, ensure they are signed into a Google account, and enable Location services. Within the security settings, the ‘Find My Device’ or ‘Find Hub’ option must be activated, along with the ‘Find your devices offline’ feature to allow for the retrieval of the device's last recorded location.

Newer iterations of the service leverage Gemini AI to assist with locating physical objects within a home or office. Users can provide voice or visual commands to record the location of items—such as a passport in a specific drawer—without the need for Bluetooth tracking hardware. This AI-powered memory assistant is expected to be integrated with Android 16 and above, allowing users to query the Gemini assistant to retrieve stored location details.
