Google testing Gemini minimization features for Android

Google is developing updates for its Gemini AI assistant on Android to improve user flexibility and reduce screen intrusion.

New features being tested include a manual minimization button that allows users to shrink the Gemini overlay into a compact floating bubble. This enables users to continue working in other applications while the AI processes complex instructions or loads responses.

Additionally, Google is testing an automatic minimization feature. In this mode, the Gemini interface will automatically shrink into a small floating button immediately after a user submits a command, preventing the AI from occupying the majority of the screen during processing times. These changes aim to transform Gemini from a static, full-screen panel into a more seamless, background-capable tool for mobile productivity.
