Google launches Pixel Tag smart tracker to rival Apple AirTag

Google has officially introduced the Pixel Tag, its first dedicated smart tracker designed to compete with Apple’s AirTag. The device utilizes a combination of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and Bluetooth Channel Sounding technology to provide high-precision distance and directional guidance. It integrates with the Google Find Hub network, leveraging over one billion Android devices to locate items even when they are out of Bluetooth range.

The Pixel Tag features an oblong design made of stainless steel and polycarbonate, with an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. It includes a built-in speaker to emit sounds for easier locating and a physical button that can trigger a ringtone on a connected smartphone. The tracker is powered by a user-replaceable CR2032 battery, which is expected to last over a year.

Global availability and pricing vary by region. In the United States, the device is priced at $29 for a single unit or $99 for a four-pack. In India, it is priced at Rs 3,799 for one or Rs 12,900 for a four-pack. The tracker is compatible with Android 9 or higher and supports features like 'Left Behind' alerts and location sharing with up to ten people.

Additionally, Google announced the Fitbit Air, a screenless fitness tracker scheduled for launch in India in October 2026. The device focuses on continuous health monitoring, such as heart rate and sleep tracking, with data viewed through the Google Health app.
