Google launches AI Edge Foresight for offline, private note-taking
Google has launched AI Edge Foresight, a productivity and transcription application designed to operate entirely offline on macOS systems equipped with Apple Silicon. By processing data locally rather than on remote servers, the tool aims to provide a high level of privacy for professionals handling sensitive information, such as those in legal departments.
The application utilizes the Gemma 4 language model and the 740-million-parameter EmbeddingGemma 2 to convert rough keywords and audio into formatted meeting minutes. It features a ‘Live Assistance’ mode capable of analyzing real-time audio from platforms like Zoom and Google Meet, while also querying local files including PDFs, Microsoft Office documents, and Google Drive data to answer user questions.
Foresight allows users to transcribe conversations, organize notes, and use custom labels and search functions without cloud reliance. While currently exclusive to Mac, the tool is designed for low battery consumption and ensures that personal files, recordings, and transcripts remain on the user's device.
