Google launches Chrome 151 beta with CSS, WebAPI and security enhancements

Google released Chrome 151 beta on July 3 for Android, ChromeOS, Linux, macOS and Windows via the beta channel. The update adds several CSS features, including new animation and transition event attributes, support for the ruby‑overhang property and a default change for the position‑anchor property.

Web API enhancements introduce the unspokenPunctuation attribute for speech‑recognition engines, a textStream() method for Request, Response and Blob objects, WebGPU sub‑group size controls, and the ARIA aria‑actions attribute. Performance tracking expands with soft‑navigation and interaction‑contentful‑paint entries in the Web Performance API.

Security improvements relax Direct Sockets permission policies and incorporate post‑quantum cryptography and hybrid key exchange into the WebCrypto API. macOS 12 support is discontinued, with future versions requiring macOS 13 or later. The beta can be downloaded from Google.com for PCs and Google Play for Android.
