Google launches Gemini 3.5 Live Translate for real‑time speech translation

Google announced Gemini 3.5 Live Translate, an AI model that can translate spoken language in real time while preserving the speaker’s voice, tone, speed and emotions. The system supports more than 70 languages, enabling over 2,000 language‑pair combinations in a single meeting.

The technology will first appear in the Google Translate mobile apps for Android and iOS and will be rolled out to Google Meet in a closed beta for selected Workspace customers in June, with broader availability expected by the end of the year. Google said the model “translates spoken words in real time, allowing users to speak naturally in their own language while others hear an immediate translation,” and that it “fully preserves the original voice, tone, energy and emotions of the speaker.”
