Google launches Gemini Spark AI agent for macOS, enabling file automation

Google has rolled out Gemini Spark, an AI‑driven agent integrated into the Gemini desktop app for macOS. The feature is currently in beta and limited to subscribers of the Google AI Ultra plan in the United States, priced at about $99/€99 per month.

Gemini Spark can access folders the user authorises, automatically sort PDFs, organise documents and generate budget spreadsheets from locally stored invoices, with the results saved to Google Workspace.

The agent also links to a growing set of third‑party services—Google Tasks, Keep, Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable and Zillow Rentals—and supports real‑time topic monitoring and custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.

Google stresses user‑controlled permissions: access is limited to explicitly approved folders and can be revoked at any time. Future updates will allow remote commands from a mobile device to trigger actions on the Mac.
