Google launches Googlebook laptop lineup with Gemini AI
Google has launched Googlebook, a new category of laptops that combines Android application support with ChromeOS desktop foundations and Gemini AI integration. The lineup features hardware from major manufacturers including Dell, HP, ASUS, Lenovo, and Acer.
The Dell XPS Googlebook debuts with a starting price of $999 in the U.S., utilizing Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processors. This model marks a shift for the XPS brand, which has traditionally been exclusive to Windows. The device features a 13.4-inch 2.5K InfinityEdge LCD touchscreen and offers up to 16 hours of battery life.
Despite the premium positioning, early users of the HP Googlebook 14 and Dell XPS Googlebook have reported a lack of HDR video playback support for services like YouTube and Netflix. Google has acknowledged the issue, stating that HDR support is currently limited to specific models and that they are working with hardware partners to expand compatibility across the entire Googlebook lineup.
