Google launches Look Up AI app for Android notebooks

Google has released a new application called Look Up on the Play Store, specifically designed for its upcoming line of Android-based notebooks, referred to as Googlebooks. The application is intended to enhance the desktop user experience by providing contextual information through a floating panel.

When a user selects text on the screen, Look Up displays relevant data such as dictionary definitions, flight tracking information, and general overviews. The tool also integrates a conversational interface powered by Gemini AI, allowing users to ask follow-up questions. Google intends to leverage its existing ecosystem, including Search, Maps, and Flights, to provide these responses. While currently accessible on smartphones, the application is primarily optimized for the desktop environment of the new Android notebooks.
