Google launches Nano Banana AI and updates Google Messages interface

Google has introduced Nano Banana, a new image generation tool integrated into the Gemini ecosystem. Technically known as Gemini Flash 2.5, the tool allows users to perform complex visual edits using text prompts. The technology is currently free for Gemini users with daily usage limits, while developers accessing the tool via API face a cost of approximately $0.03 per image.

Separately, Google Messages is undergoing a visual redesign for pinned conversations. The update introduces a new interface where pinned contacts appear as large circles at the top of the app. While the update allows users to manually organize the order of pinned chats—a long-requested feature—it also reduces the maximum number of pinned conversations from 20 down to six.
