Google launches new Google Home Speaker with Gemini AI integration
Google has introduced a new Google Home Speaker, its first smart‑home hardware release in several years. Priced at $99, the speaker replaces the discontinued Nest Mini and Nest Audio models and is built around Gemini for Home, the company's latest AI assistant. It offers enhanced audio quality, a Thread border router with Matter support, and a hard‑wired USB‑C power cable. Voice activation works through the familiar "Hey Google" command, and the device supports "Continued Conversation" for more natural interactions.
The launch follows a broader rollout of Gemini‑related AI updates, including Gemini 3.5 and new AI models for Android devices. While the speaker is now available in markets such as the United States, Google has hinted at an upcoming Google Home display, signaling a new phase for its smart‑home ecosystem.
