Google launches Universal Cart for multi-retailer shopping in the US

Google has officially launched Universal Cart in the United States, a new AI-powered shopping feature integrated into Google Search and the Gemini app. The tool allows users to aggregate products from various retailers into a single, unified shopping cart, reducing the need for multiple browser tabs.

Powered by the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) and Google’s Shopping Graph—which contains over 60 billion product listings—the feature provides automated notifications for price drops and restocked items. It also assists with savings by surfacing promotional codes and using Google Wallet to suggest the best payment method based on available credit card rewards.

Participating retailers include major brands such as Nike, Sephora, Target, Walmart, Wayfair, Ulta Beauty, and various Shopify merchants. Users can complete purchases directly through Google Pay or be redirected to the retailer’s own checkout system. While currently limited to the US, Google’s roadmap indicates potential future expansion to Canada, Australia, and the UK.
