Google Maps adds traffic light and stop sign alerts to Android Auto
Google Maps is rolling out a new interface update for Android Auto designed to help drivers better anticipate upcoming intersections. The update introduces visual prompts—such as traffic light icons and stop sign symbols—within the floating street name banners that appear during navigation.
Previously, these indicators were displayed as static elements on the map itself, which could be difficult for drivers to notice while moving. The new feature places these alerts directly next to the upcoming turn information, allowing drivers to prepare for stops or signals without needing to scan the entire map. This update has also been observed on the mobile version of the app, suggesting that similar functionality may soon appear for iPhone users via CarPlay.
