Google Maps expands Immersive Navigation and live speedometer to Android Auto

Google is broadening the rollout of two major Android Auto updates – Immersive Navigation and a live speedometer – to a larger pool of users. The features, first released on limited beta builds, are now appearing on stable versions of Google Maps through a server‑side distribution that varies by region and device. Immersive Navigation delivers richer 3D road layouts, clearer lane guidance and contextual details such as building entrances and nearby parking. The live speedometer shows the vehicle’s current speed beside the posted limit and changes colour when the driver exceeds it; Google stresses it is only an informational aid.

The update also replaces the Google Assistant icon with the new Gemini icon in the Maps UI. Early reports note activation in Canada, India and other markets, with availability expected to expand gradually worldwide.
