Google Maps introduces new features for Android Auto

Google is rolling out significant updates to Google Maps for Android Auto, introducing new visual and functional features to improve the driving experience.

A new “Immersive Navigation” feature utilizes Street View and satellite imagery to provide 3D map views. This update allows buildings to appear as realistic 3D structures, with the ability to make obstructing buildings transparent to improve visibility and situational awareness regarding turns and urban density.

Additionally, Google is introducing a digital GPS speedometer for Android Auto. This feature calculates speed based on GPS position changes and will be displayed alongside speed limit information. The rollout appears to be happening in stages, with users in regions such as Canada and India already reporting its availability.
