Google Maps to introduce AI-driven airport arrival assistant

Google is developing a new feature for Google Maps designed to assist travelers upon landing at major airports. Analysis of the latest Android application code reveals plans for a digital greeting that recognizes when a user enters an arrival hall.

Using geofencing technology and the Gemini AI assistant, the feature aims to provide automated travel plans. Once a user lands, the app can suggest transportation to the city center, recommend local restaurants, and highlight nearby cultural events. The system may also integrate with a user's flight details from emails or calendars to streamline the process.

The feature is expected to support over 90 major transit hubs globally, including airports in Warsaw, Paris, London, New York, and Tokyo. While the code for these capabilities has been identified, the functions are not yet active for public use.
