Google Meet and Microsoft Teams enable Android hardware interoperability

Google and Microsoft have introduced interoperability between Google Meet and Microsoft Teams for conference room hardware running on Android. This update allows Android-based Google Meet devices to join Microsoft Teams meetings directly, and vice versa for Microsoft Teams Rooms running on Android.

The rollout began on October 1st and is being deployed gradually. This feature aims to eliminate the need for users to use personal laptops to join meetings when the room hardware is incompatible with the meeting platform. For network administrators, the function is enabled by default, though it can be disabled at the organizational unit level if required by internal company policies.

While this provides essential conferencing functions, it does not offer the full suite of features available within each native platform. This update follows a similar integration introduced in February for ChromeOS and Windows-based systems.
