Google Meet introduces AI note-taking for in-person meetings
Google is rolling out a new ‘Take Notes for me’ feature for Google Meet, expanding its utility from virtual video calls to in-person meetings. Powered by Gemini AI, the tool allows users to capture audio from face-to-face discussions via a smartphone or computer without needing to initiate a video call.
The AI processes the ambient audio to generate a structured Google Doc containing a full transcript, a summary of key points, a list of decisions made, and identified action items. Once the recording session is stopped, the resulting documentation is saved directly to Google Drive, and participants receive an email with a link to the file.
For organizations, the feature utilizes existing Google Meet settings, meaning no additional administrative setup is required for the rollout. The update aims to allow meeting participants to focus on engagement rather than manual documentation.
