Google Messages tests in-app gaming features

Google is reportedly preparing to introduce in-app gaming capabilities to Google Messages, a move inspired by Apple’s iMessage feature, GamePigeon.

Evidence of this development was found in a beta version of the application (messages_android_20261002_00_RC00), which includes a new section titled ‘Games’. This feature would allow users to play games with friends directly within a chat interface, similar to how iMessage users can play titles like 8 Ball or archery without leaving their conversations.

While the exact implementation—whether through a dedicated interface or within the chat window—remains unconfirmed, the update follows a pattern of Google Messages adopting popular features from other platforms, such as conversation themes and backgrounds.
