Google Nest cameras receive Matter 1.5.1 certification
Google's Nest camera hardware has received Matter 1.5.1 certification, according to entries in the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) database. This certification applies to current Nest Cams and the Nest Doorbell, enabling improved cross-manufacturer integration, including parallel video and audio streams.
While the technical certification is complete, Google has not yet rolled out the necessary firmware to end-user devices. Currently, Google is testing Matter 1.5 experimentally within its Home APIs, while the standard infrastructure remains on version 1.4.1.
Additionally, certification data suggests Google may be preparing a new hardware bundle, specifically a “Google Nest Cam Outdoor and Floodlight bundle.” Based on model numbers, this appears to be a second-generation wired Nest Cam featuring 2K resolution and Gemini AI functions, rather than a software update for the 2021 floodlight model.
