Google expands Gemini AI tools for global education sector

Google is expanding its Gemini AI capabilities into the education sector through various regional initiatives and tool releases. The company has introduced a suite of educational tools designed for K-12 and university students, including dedicated student hubs, study notebooks, flashcards, and practice quizzes. These tools aim to assist with organization, note-taking, and knowledge testing.

In several regions, Google is providing specific access to these technologies. In France and Romania, eligible students can receive free access to Google AI Plus for one year, which includes enhanced Gemini usage limits, multimodal capabilities for image and video generation, and increased cloud storage. In Pakistan, government schools are implementing a learning and certification programme for students in grades 8 to 10, focusing on prompt engineering, AI safety, and ethics.

The integration of Gemini into platforms like Google Classroom, Workspace, Drive, and Gmail is intended to support autonomous learning and digital literacy. These deployments are part of a broader strategy to embed AI into academic workflows and prepare students for a technology-driven landscape.
