Google offers free AI subscriptions to university students worldwide
Google has launched a global back-to-school initiative providing eligible university students in over 140 countries with one year of free access to its AI subscription services. In the United States, students can access the Google AI Pro plan, which includes 5 TB of cloud storage and advanced reasoning capabilities. Students in other regions, such as India, Singapore, and Nigeria, are eligible for the Google AI Plus plan, which offers 400 GB of storage and doubled usage limits for Gemini.
The initiative introduces several new academic tools designed to assist with research and study organization. These include a dedicated Student Hub, Study Notebooks for organizing course materials, and Gemini Live for voice-based research discussions. Additionally, Google is expanding interactive features in Search, such as 3D simulations for complex topics and personalized practice quizzes.
To qualify, students aged 18–24 must verify their enrollment through official academic credentials or university email addresses. The promotion is scheduled to run through December 31, 2026.
