Google Pay introduces AI-powered shopping features in India

Google is piloting a new “Discover” tab within its Google Pay app in India, expanding the platform's utility from financial transactions to fashion and lifestyle shopping. The feature utilizes Google’s Shopping Graph, which includes data on more than 60 billion products, to provide a personalized fashion feed based on user preferences.

Key functionalities of the new update include visual search capabilities via Google Lens, allowing users to find similar clothing items by uploading photos. The pilot also introduces AI-powered virtual try-on technology for certain garments, enabling users to see how products might look on them before purchasing. While users can browse and discover items within the app, the final checkout process occurs on the respective merchant's website.
