Google Photos introduces privacy markup tools and facial filtering
Google Photos is introducing new features designed to enhance user privacy and organization. A new markup tool, titled ‘Unkenntlich machen’ (Obscure), allows users to blur or pixelate sensitive information within images. This tool, located in the ‘Mark & Draw’ section of the app, offers three distinct styles: blurring, fine pixelation, and coarse pixelation, with adjustable brush sizes to protect details like addresses, license plates, or faces.
Additionally, code analysis from version 7.96.0 suggests that Google is developing advanced filtering capabilities for albums. While users can currently group faces and pets, the upcoming update may allow for more sophisticated searching. This would enable users to filter albums by specific people, pets, or unknown faces, potentially allowing for multiple combined filters to navigate large photo collections more efficiently.
