Google Photos storage management and backup settings

Users can manage Google Photos storage by disabling the automatic backup feature on Android and iPhone devices. To do this, users must open the Google Photos app, navigate to 'Google Photos settings', and select 'Back-up' to toggle the synchronization off.

Disabling this feature prevents new photos and videos from uploading to the cloud, keeping them stored locally on the device. While this helps manage cloud storage limits, it carries the risk of permanent data loss if the device is lost, stolen, or damaged. To free up existing space in a Google account, users must manually delete files from the cloud.
