Google Photos storage management and backup settings

Google Photos users can manage their cloud storage limits by adjusting backup settings on Android and iPhone devices. The automatic backup feature, which is enabled by default, can quickly consume the 15 GB of free storage provided by Google.

Users can disable synchronization through the Google Photos app settings under the 'Back-up' menu. While this prevents new photos and videos from being uploaded to the cloud, it carries the risk of permanent data loss if the device is lost, stolen, or damaged. To free up existing space, users must manually delete files from the cloud.
