Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold fails durability bend test
The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold has failed a series of durability tests conducted by YouTuber Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything. Despite Google claiming the device is three times more robust than its predecessor, the smartphone broke during a reverse bend test.
Reports indicate a recurring structural weakness: the device consistently fractures at the antenna lines located near the hinge. This design choice, where plastic antenna inserts interrupt the metal frame, appears to create stress points that lead to breakage. During the tests, the internal screen cracked and the outer glass panel also detached from the frame.
While the Pixel 11 Pro Fold showed improvements in certain areas—such as the outer display's resistance to scratches on the Mohs scale and the absence of the battery combustion issues seen in the Pixel 10 Pro Fold—it remains less structurally sound than competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, which successfully passed similar stress tests.
Additionally, some technical reviews noted performance concerns regarding the Tensor G6 chip, specifically citing significant GPU performance drops when the device reaches higher operating temperatures.
