Google Pixel 11a to feature Tensor G6 chip, MediaTek modem and high‑brightness display

Google’s upcoming mid‑range Pixel 11a, codenamed “Formosan,” is slated for a early‑2027 launch, likely in March. Leaks reveal the device will be powered by the new Tensor G6 (also known as “Malibu”) SoC and will include a MediaTek M90 modem, marking a shift away from Samsung‑based modems used in previous Pixels. Security will be handled by the Titan M3 coprocessor.

The phone is expected to sport a 6.3‑inch Full‑HD+ (1080 × 2424) panel with a variable 60‑120 Hz refresh rate, capable of 2,250 nits in HDR and up to 3,350 nits peak brightness. It will ship with 8 GB of RAM, a minimum‑capacity 4,870 mAh battery (potentially larger in production), and a new front‑camera sensor codenamed “dokkaebi.” Available colour options include Obsidian (black), Olive (green), Frost (purple) and Fog (silver). The flagship Pixel 11 series is set to debut at Google’s Made by Google event on August 12‑13, while the Pixel 11a will follow as a budget‑friendly model the following spring.
