Google Pixel alarm bug reported by users since 2021

Google Pixel users are reporting a persistent software bug where alarms fail to sound, despite the device displaying a notification stating the alarm was “automatically silenced after the set duration.” This misleading message suggests the alarm functioned normally and was silenced by the user, when in reality, the sound never played.

Reports on Reddit indicate that the issue has been ongoing since at least 2021. Users have described significant real-world consequences, such as missing work due to oversleeping. While one user noted that nearly full internal storage might contribute to app malfunctions, others have confirmed the issue occurs even when settings are correct and the phone is within reach.

Google has confirmed it is aware of the problem and is investigating. In the interim, affected users have suggested workarounds including disabling automatic silencing in the Clock app settings, using third-party alarm applications, or relying on traditional alarm clocks.
