Google Pixel users report performance and lock screen issues after update
Google Pixel users have reported various software issues following a recent September update. Reports from platforms like Reddit indicate that multiple device generations, including the Pixel 7, 8, 9, and 10 series, are experiencing performance degradation, such as sluggish animations, slow app scrolling, and delayed screenshot captures.
More critically, some users are facing severe lock screen bugs that prevent them from accessing their devices. Specific issues include pattern unlock gestures being interrupted prematurely on the Pixel 10 Pro XL and PIN authentication failures on the Pixel 8 Pro and 8a models. For those affected by the lock screen bug, standard troubleshooting steps like restarting or using safe mode have reportedly failed, with a factory reset being the only known method to regain access, which results in the loss of all local data.
Additionally, some users have noted abnormal battery drain and device overheating following the update. Google has not yet officially confirmed a link between these symptoms and a specific update, nor has it announced a widespread fix.
