Google Pixel phones face 5G loss and touch glitches after Android 17 update

After installing Android 17, users of Google Pixel 8, 9 and 10 have reported several problems. In Portugal, Pixel owners notice a loss of 5G connectivity, with devices reverting to slower LTE or 4G networks, affecting calls, navigation, video calls and mobile hotspot use. Similar reports from Poland describe touch‑panel inversion errors, where swipes register opposite directions, and Wi‑Fi issues that prevent Google apps such as YouTube, Keep and Photos from functioning correctly. The issues appear to be limited to the latest Pixel models; Pixel 6 and 7 are not affected according to the reports.

The problems have been highlighted on forums such as Reddit and covered by Android Central, Android Authority and other tech outlets. Users are advised to verify 5G availability after the update, restart the phone or enable repair mode, and consider postponing the update until a fix is released.
