Google Pixel phones hit by Android 17 touchscreen bug in landscape mode

After the rollout of Android 17, Pixel smartphones are experiencing a touchscreen recognition problem that occurs only in landscape orientation. The upper portion of the display fails to register taps while a video is playing, affecting YouTube, web browsers and other streaming apps. Users report that tapping the top of the screen does nothing, though swiping down from that area still opens the notification shade. The issue has been reproduced on devices such as the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

Reports from Google’s official forum and Reddit indicate the bug emerged immediately after the Android 17 update. Google has acknowledged the problem but has not announced a fix, and users are advised to submit feedback or await a future patch.
