Google Pixel users face performance issues amid Android 17 updates

Google has initiated the development cycle for the third quarterly update of Android 17, releasing Beta 1 of Android 17 QPR3 for compatible Pixel devices. Early findings from this beta suggest a significant redesign of the lock screen customization interface within the ‘Wallpaper & style’ app. The proposed update includes a new carousel layout featuring options such as Wallpapers, Colors, Clock, Widget, Media, and Alert.

Separately, users of Google Pixel devices have reported performance degradation and crashes following the deployment of the Android 17 QPR1 update in mid-September. Developers of GrapheneOS, a security-focused custom ROM, have noted these malfunctions, indicating that the recent software release has caused slowdowns and instability for some owners.
